Ho Chi Minh City has witnessed a significant increase in high school admission scores for the 2026 academic year, with nearly 130 schools raising their benchmarks compared to the previous year. The Department of Education and Training released the admission scores for 170 public high schools on June 30, revealing that most institutions in the city have raised their entry requirements.
The school with the highest increase in admission scores is Châu Thành High School, which saw its score rise dramatically from 9 to 18.5 points. Other notable increases were recorded at Trần Văn Quan and Nguyễn Thị Diệu, which raised their scores by 5.25 to 5.75 points compared to last year.
Conversely, 33 schools experienced a decrease in their admission scores, with Nguyễn Huệ High School in Phước Thành seeing the largest drop, from 14.7 to 9 points. The scores for the top 15 schools are as follows:
Students who are accepted must confirm their enrollment online through the city's high school admission system and submit their documents directly to the schools between June 30 and July 15. The high school entrance exam concluded on June 2, with over 151,000 candidates participating, the highest number in the country, and an acceptance rate of approximately 78%.
Ten days prior, the Department had announced the admission scores for specialized high schools, with over 3,100 students already enrolled. After accounting for these students, the Department calculated and announced the admission scores for regular high schools to align with actual circumstances.
