On July 2, a significant beatification ceremony for Father Phanxicô Trương Bửu Diệp will be held at the Tắc Sậy Pilgrimage Center in Phong Thạnh, Cà Mau, with an expected turnout of over 70,000 participants. The ceremony will be presided over by Cardinal Luis Antonio G. Tagle, the Acting Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, along with numerous bishops and a large number of priests and laypeople from the Cần Thơ Diocese and beyond.
Father Phêrô Vũ Văn Hài, the Vicar General of the Cần Thơ Diocese and the head of the organizing committee, reported that preparations for the event are nearing completion. The venue will feature a stage, internal roads, communication, medical, sanitation, and information systems that are being finalized rapidly.
The Tắc Sậy Church area, along with Father Trương Bửu Diệp's burial site, can accommodate approximately 25,000 people. It will be equipped with LED screens, sound systems, and tents. An adjacent 5-hectare area has been arranged to serve as a square and surrounding zones, capable of hosting around 47,000 individuals. All areas will have roofs, screens, and sound systems to allow attendees to follow the ceremony from a distance.
In addition, the Cần Thơ Diocese is preparing over 40,000 free breakfast meals for pilgrims. Groups are encouraged to register in advance to arrange seating, parking, and traffic flow. Registered vehicles will receive identification tags and guidance to designated parking areas, with participants needing to walk approximately 500-700 meters to the ceremony site.
Traffic on National Highway 1 near Tắc Sậy Church will be restricted from 1 PM on July 1 until 4 AM the following day, with a complete ban on vehicles from 4 AM to 5 PM on July 2, except for emergency and official vehicles. A field hospital and several satellite health stations will be set up to serve attendees, with medical personnel, fire safety officers, rescue teams, and security on standby throughout the event.
