On June 20, 2026, Lê Văn Minh was officially appointed as the General Director of the newly established Ho Chi Minh City Newspaper and Broadcasting Agency. This decision was announced during a conference organized by the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, which also marked the establishment of the agency itself.

The conference was attended by several notable figures, including Nguyễn Huy Ngọc, Head of the Local Affairs Department, and Đặng Duy Thìn, Deputy Head of the Central Organization Committee. The event also saw the presence of Lê Quốc Phong, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, along with other leaders from the city’s various councils and media outlets.

At the conference, Thái Thị Bích Liên, Deputy Head of the Organization Committee of the City Party, announced the establishment of the Ho Chi Minh City Newspaper and Broadcasting Agency and the appointments of its leadership. Lê Văn Minh, who is a member of the City Party Committee, was appointed as the General Director.

In addition to Lê Văn Minh, the Party Committee also appointed several Deputy General Directors for the agency, including Nguyễn Khắc Văn, Cao Anh Minh, Trần Xuân Toàn, and Tô Đình Tuấn. The agency comprises three media units and one training center, including the Sài Gòn Giải Phóng Newspaper, Tuổi Trẻ Online Newspaper, and Ho Chi Minh City Television.

Lê Văn Minh, 50, holds a bachelor's degree in philosophy and advanced political theory. He has extensive experience in the propaganda sector, having previously served as Chief of the Office for the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee and as Deputy Head of the City Party’s Propaganda Department. His career also includes roles such as Deputy Secretary of the Bình Chánh District Party Committee and Secretary of the District Party Committee for District 10.

The Ho Chi Minh City Newspaper and Broadcasting Agency is a public service unit under the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, structured as a multi-media core agency. It is tasked with carrying out functions and responsibilities as stipulated by the Press Law and relevant legal regulations.

The establishment of the agency is seen as a significant step in enhancing media operations in Ho Chi Minh City, aiming to improve communication and public engagement in the region.
