The southern province of An Giang has had the new Party Chief - Mr. Le Hong Quang.

The Central Organization Commission of the Communist Party of Vietnam on May 5 announced the Politburo's decision to appoint Mr. Le Hong Quang, Member of the Party Central Committee, Standing Deputy Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court, as Secretary of the Party Committee of the southern province of An Giang for the 2020-2025 term.

Mr. Quang’s predecessor is Ms. Vo Thi Anh Xuan, who was elected Vietnam’s Vice President.

Mr. Quang was born in 1968, a native of Kien Giang province. He holds a doctoral degree of law, a bachelor degree of economics and was a member of the Party Central Committee for the 12th and 13th terms.

He worked in Kien Giang province’s procuracy agency before becoming a judge of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Court in 1992. In May 2003, he became a judge of the Supreme People's Court and a lecturer at the Judicial Academy.

In May 2008, he was reappointed as judge of the Supreme People's Court for another term, then the Editor-in-Chief of the People's Court Magazine, Deputy Head of the Editorial Board of the Supreme People's Court Web Portal.

In June 2013, he was reappointed as the Supreme People's Court Judge (3rd term), then the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of the People's Court (2nd term). He held the position of Deputy Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court for 3 months (January-March, 2014). 

After that, he was appointed Deputy Party Secretary of Tien Giang Province until June 2017.

In June 2017, he was approved by the National Assembly to hold the position of Supreme Court Judge. One year later, he was awarded a decision by the State President to hold the title of Judge of the Supreme People's Court, the position of Deputy Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court.

In September 2020, he became Secretary of the Party Committee of the Supreme People's Court for the 2020-2025 term.

At the 13th Party Congress, he was re-elected as a member of the Party Central Committee for the term 2021-2026.
