Mr. Nguyen Thanh Loc, CEO of Mekong Logistics, said he would increase the number of trucks, apply technology, improve quality and operational efficiency, and expand services in Cambodia.

Why did the company decide to invest in buying 50 new trucks and tractors when the economy faced many obstacles and businesses, tightened spending?

- This is an approved investment in the 5-year business plan for 2020-2025 to become a leading logistics company in the Vietnam - Cambodia transport market by 2025. Despite the difficult situation, we still maintain a growth rate of 20% annually. The investment in new vehicles is within the ability and necessary to expand the scale of operations and develop the market.

Currently, the general situation of many Vietnamese enterprises is that they need help in export markets such as the US, Europe, Japan, and Korea... They are gradually changing direction, looking for opportunities in neighboring countries and more acceptable markets. Among them is Cambodia. Therefore, Mekong Logistics focuses on investment resources to prepare to serve this potential customer file.

- How will the new fleet of vehicles work?

- Mekong Logistics currently has 100 vehicles operating the service, including 50 old and 50 new. This resource helps the unit focus on B2B customer segments (factories, businesses) with large and regular monthly export volumes to Cambodia.

The company also exploits services at many border gates stretching from Binh Phuoc to the western provinces, transporting various products from retail goods, containers, food and foodstuffs, garments, leather shoes, machinery, super heavyweights... With a new fleet of vehicles, the operation will be quick, cost-optimized, and transport time.

Owning many vehicles of diverse types also helps us actively transport goods flexibly without restrictions on the volume and size of items, bring goods from the place of production to the warehouse to the place of consumption without much dependence on weather conditions, and quickly respond to customers' needs.

- Why does Mekong Logistics appreciate and focus on the Cambodian market?

- Vietnam is Cambodia's third-largest global trade partner and first among ASEAN countries. In 2022, bilateral trade increased by nearly 11% compared to 2021, reaching over 10.57 billion USD. Vietnam currently has 205 valid investment projects in Cambodia with a total registered capital of 2.94 billion USD, ranking first in ASEAN and the group of 5 countries with the largest direct investment in Cambodia. This is also the second country out of 79 countries and territories where Vietnam has invested abroad.

The trade scale between the two countries has continuously grown, promoting economic cooperation, trade and investment. We specialize in exporting to Cambodia all kinds of consumer goods, materials for production, importing agricultural products... Vietnamese people live and work in Cambodia, so the market easily accepts Vietnamese goods. Export transportation advantages when bordering roads, the border line is up to nearly 1,200 km extending from Kon Tum to Kien Giang.

Currently, the logistics market has much potential, so we decided to penetrate deeply and invest heavily in exploiting a variety of services on the Vietnam - Cambodia route to become a leading unit in this market.

- What strengths does the company have to exploit the Cambodian market?

- More than 10 years of experience in exploiting, operating and developing services helps us build a complete and large-scale operating system at both ends of Vietnam and Cambodia. Offices are located in both countries and border gates with local staff fluent in Vietnamese - English - Khmer languages, understanding the market practices of both sides.

- What are the company's plans shortly?

- In the last 6 months of the year, Mekong Logistics focuses on exploiting a group of customers, including corporate customers, manufacturing plants providing necessities, food, FMCG, and garment materials, with large output, which are exported to Cambodia every month from Vietnam to Cambodia, factories in your country wishing to import goods from third countries transiting Vietnam.

We apply technology to optimize the distribution and control of stages, thereby improving operational efficiency, using software for order management, vehicle route monitoring, GPS and real-time vehicle management cameras. Upgrade the system and invest in facilities yearly to meet the service scale.
