Thailand prioritises sustainable, balanced and inclusive development in APEC 2022

HCMC – President Nguyen Xuan Phuc, his spouse and a high-ranking delegation began their four-day official visit to Thailand this morning and will attend the APEC Summit 2022 in Bangkok from November 16 to 19.
The Vietnamese President is the first among the leaders of the Asia-Pacific economies to come to Thailand for the APEC Summit 2022, said Vietnamese Ambassador to Thailand Phan Chi Thanh.
The Vietnamese delegation received a 21-gun salute from Thailand. This was a special ceremony showing the importance Thailand attaches to the visit by the President of Vietnam, a leading partner of Thailand in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and the Mekong cooperation framework, reported the Vietnam News Agency.
President Nguyen Xuan Phuc will meet the King and the Queen of Thailand, hold talks with Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha, attend the signing ceremony of cooperative deals and participate in some other important activities with enterprises in Thailand.
This visit will help enhance the strategic partnership between the two countries and create an opportunity for the leaders to exchange their views on improving trading activities, investment, connectivity in digital transformation and the green economy.
During the APEC Summit, President Nguyen Xuan Phuc will meet with leaders of 20 other economies to discuss solutions to overcome global economic difficulties, and accelerate recovery and sustainable development.
He will also attend a dialogue with the guests of the APEC Summit reinforcing the APEC membership and expanding the cooperation between APEC and other regions.
Additionally, the President will deliver an important speech at the APEC CEO Summit 2022, where business executives in the region will engage in discussions with leaders.
The theme for APEC Summit 2022 is “Open. Connect. Balance.”, focusing on facilitating open trade and investment, restoring connectivity, reinvigorating tourism and the services sector, and integrating inclusivity and sustainability objectives in tandem with economic goals.
