HCMC - The Ministry of Health this morning, July 3, reported 239 new domestic Covid-19 cases in five localities, with HCMC alone accounting for 215.
Besides, Phu Yen Province had 11 infections, Hung Yen Province detected 10 cases, Bac Lieu saw two cases and Bac Ninh had one. Among the latest locally-infected cases, up to 206 cases were found at quarantine facilities or areas under lockdown.
The latest Covid-19 case in Bac Lieu ended the province’s 30-day coronavirus-free period.
Since the fourth wave of Covid-19 began on April 27, Vietnam has reported 14,954 domestic Covid-19 cases in 52 provinces and cities, with 4,621 patients having recovered from the disease.
As of 4.00 p.m. on July 2, over 3.8 million Covid-19 vaccine doses had been administered, and 214,405 residents have been fully vaccinated with two doses.
In related news, after detecting the first Covid-19 case on July 2, the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong quickly locked down Phu Hoa Hamlet in Da Teh District’s My Duc Commune, with 171 households, from 6.30 p.m. on the same day until further notice.
Besides, the province began social distancing on My Duc Commune, with over 6,870 people, in line with the Prime Minister’s Directive 16 at the same time.
Tong Giang Nam, chairman of Da Teh District, said that all residents in Phu Hoa Hamlet had their samples taken for Covid-19 testing.
To reduce the risk of community transmission, Lam Dong Province has adopted strict anti-virus measures. Specifically, people traveling to Lam Dong Province from other localities must show a negative Covid-19 test result, with the RT-PCR test conducted within five days ahead of their arrival, said Nguyen Duc Thuan, director of the Lam Dong Department of Health.
In addition, those who return to the province from Covid-19-hit areas must undergo a 21-day quarantine period at concentrated quarantine centers.
In another development, Long An General Hospital will remain shut for seven more days after 72 hours of suspending its operations for screening and testing, the local media reported.
The Long An Department of Health said that the decision was made following the hospital’s proposal to temporarily stop receiving new patients to prevent the spread of Covid-19 as the development of Covid-19 at this coronavirus cluster remained complicated.
Since the fourth coronavirus wave emerged, Long An Province has reported over 110 domestic Covid-19 cases, with 17 of them detected at the hospital in Ward 3 in Tan An City.
