Vietjet, the Vietnamese low-cost airline, reported an impressive after-tax profit of 1.372 trillion VND (approximately 58.5 million USD) for the first half of 2026, fulfilling 64.5% of its annual target. The airline's consolidated revenue reached 51.536 trillion VND, marking a significant 44% increase compared to the same period last year. This information was disclosed in the company's business results report published on July 30.
In the second quarter of 2026, Vietjet's consolidated revenue was 30.499 trillion VND, representing a remarkable 71% growth year-on-year, with an after-tax profit of 349 billion VND. For the first half of the year, the parent company also saw substantial growth, with a revenue of 45.030 trillion VND, up 26% from the previous year, and an after-tax profit of 1.126 trillion VND, achieving 55.9% of its annual plan.
As of June 30, Vietjet's total assets stood at 149.093 trillion VND, with a net debt-to-equity ratio of 2.37 times and a liquidity ratio of 1.36, indicating a stable position within the industry. Over the first six months, the airline contributed more than 3.950 trillion VND to the national budget.
The growth momentum for Vietjet has been driven by the expansion of its international flight network, maintaining high transportation demand, increasing flight capacity, and optimizing fleet operations. In the first half of this year, the airline transported over 6.2 million passengers on nearly 33,000 flights, and more than 13.4 million passengers on 72,000 flights, with cargo volume reaching nearly 41,000 tons.
Currently, Vietjet operates 213 routes, including 46 domestic and 167 international flights. The airline has continuously launched new routes to destinations such as China, Sri Lanka, Kazakhstan, and the Czech Republic, enhancing connectivity for trade, investment, and tourism between Vietnam and the world.
In the context of ongoing global aviation challenges, including geopolitical fluctuations and rising fuel costs, Vietjet has implemented various commercial, financial, and management strategies to enhance operational efficiency. The airline continues to develop a service ecosystem with various ticket classes, including Business, SkyBoss, Deluxe, and Eco, along with services such as hot meals, VikkiCafe, Duty-Free, SkyFi SIM, currency exchange, and the SkyJoy loyalty program.
In addition to air transport, Vietjet is refining its ecosystem under an integrated aviation group model. AirportNEO has been providing ground services at major airports in Vietnam, while the cargo transport sector continues to grow in response to logistics demands. The Vietjet Aviation Academy is expanding its training programs to international standards.
Furthermore, Vietjet is preparing to launch its Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) unit, gradually completing the value chain from operations, training, ground services, and logistics to technical maintenance. In Thailand, Vietjet Thailand is expanding its network with a fleet of Boeing 737-8 aircraft, while Vietjet Kazakhstan is reporting positive results on its Central Asian routes.
Vietjet has also announced the establishment of the Asia-Pacific Aviation Finance Center during the Singapore Airshow 2026, along with its partners. The airline is investing in its fleet with a total order of over 600 Airbus and Boeing aircraft. Recently, it signed an agreement for GTF engine supply from Pratt & Whitney for 44 Airbus A320neo aircraft and secured financing for 12 Boeing 737-8 aircraft to support its fleet expansion plans.
Additionally, Vietjet is leveraging artificial intelligence in management and operations, collaborating with OpenAirlines, Satair, and various international partners to optimize fuel efficiency, enhance operational effectiveness, and reduce emissions. In the training sector, Vietjet collaborates with Australia Aviation and F Air flight school and is a training partner of IATA, having conducted 9,662 courses for over 99,000 students.
According to Brand Finance, as of May, Vietjet's brand value reached 906 million USD. The airline has received numerous international awards, including the Best Low-Cost Airline in the World, Top 10 Safest Low-Cost Airlines in 2026, Best Global Workplace, Best Workplace in Asia, and Top 50 Best Listed Companies in Vietnam. Cirium has also recognized the airline as having the lowest emissions among Southeast Asian airlines.
