In the quarter-finals, she showcased her skills by beating Bak Chorong from South Korea with another 5-0 score, and then she triumphed over world champion Alua Balkibekova from Kazakhstan in the semi-finals, which heightened expectations for her final match.

In addition to Nguyen Thi Tam's achievement, fellow athlete Chau Ngoc Tuyet Sang also brought home a silver medal in taekwondo after a tough match against Yape Jeus Gabriel Derick from the Philippines. The Vietnamese team has shown remarkable performance at Asiad 20, with a total of 2 gold, 3 silver, and 19 bronze medals as of October 2, placing them 20th in the overall medal standings.
