Ho Chi Minh City deports 59 foreigners who illegally entered Vietnam
All of them completed quarantine period and tested negative for the novel coronavirus before the deportation
HCMC – Five foreigners who entered Vietnam illegally and two Vietnamese taxi drivers who transported them have been tracked down and quarantined by the competent forces of Binh Phuoc Province’s Hon Quan District.
The Hon Quan steering committee for Covid-19 infection prevention and control said on April 13 that the nationality of the five was unknown.
At 7.30 p.m. on April 12, some residents of An Phu Commune in the district suspected two taxi cabs of transporting foreigners who had entered the province illegally, so they notified the local authority.
After being informed of the case, the An Phu authority dispatched police officers to the scene to check these vehicles.
Seeing the competent forces, the two drivers of the taxi cabs, identified as Phan Hong Khanh, aged 33, and Le Quang Hoa, aged 37, quickly ran away, but were stopped by the An Phu Commune police. The two reside in HCMC and Thanh Hoa Province, Thanh Nien Online reported.
The competent forces also found five foreigners in the two taxi cabs. As such, they were sent to a concentrated quarantine center in Loc Ninh District on April 13 to prevent the potential spread of Covid-19.
The police are investigating their illegal entry to impose sanctions in line with the prevailing regulations.
