A US Capitol Police officer died Thursday after being injured when supporters of President Donald Trump raided the Capitol building on Wednesday. Brian Sicknick “was injured while physically engaging with protesters” on Wednesday, US Capitol Police said in a statement. He returned to his division office and collapsed, then was taken to a local hospital where he died Thursday evening.
Five people have been killed in connection with the chaos in the Capitol building on Wednesday when the US Senate and House of Representatives met to certify the results of the 2020 US presidential election with the victory of the Democratic candidate Joe Biden.
