Nguyen Thanh Tuan, 36 years old, living in Ho Chi Minh City, recommends camping spots for the holiday, based on his past summer camping experience across Vietnam.

According to Thanh Tuan, before starting camping, you should choose at least two backup points for each place, because if it’s not okay, you can go to another location nearby. In terms of supplies, Tuan often chooses a sturdy tent, as well as always carries the necessary items to suit the weather, which is both compact and adequate. Among the points passed, Tuan suggested 10 safe destinations, suitable for short trips, especially on the upcoming September 2 holiday.

1. Dau Tieng Lake (Tay Ninh)

Dau Tieng Lake borders Binh Duong and Tay Ninh, about 90 km from Ho Chi Minh City. This is a familiar camping site for young people in Ho Chi Minh City and neighboring provinces. The right time is in the low water season when many green grasslands appear. You can set up camp by the lake or take a boat to the Hedgehog island in the middle of the lake. The scenery here is romantic towards Ba Den mountain. The advantage of this location is that it is close to Ho Chi Minh City, the road is easy to go, and the cost is economical.

2. Thac Mo hydropower reservoir (Binh Phuoc)

Thac Mo hydropower reservoir is located at the foot of Ba Ra mountain, in Binh Phuoc province, about 150 km from Ho Chi Minh City. Similar to Dau Tieng lake, Thac Mo lake is like a vast steppe, overlooking the green Ba Ra mountain. This place has a cool climate, is a wild camping site, close to nature, although a bit far, but has good roads, few big cars.

3. Tri An Lake (Dong Nai)

Tri An Lake is about 100 km from Ho Chi Minh City, easy to go, fresh and cool lake. On the way you can also admire the scenery of Ma Da forest, War Zone D. You can camp at Tri An dam, or Ma Da forest.

4. Ta Dung Lake (Dak Nong)

Ta Dung Lake is likened to “Ha Long Bay of the Central Highlands” with more than 36 large and small islands floating on the lake. This is a suitable place for those who love to explore, like wild nature and is one of the camping sites with beautiful views. From the top of the hill, you will admire the vast space of the lake in the radiant dawn. The air in Ta Dung Lake is cool, fresh and quiet.

5. Phu Ninh Lake (Quang Nam)

Located in Phu Ninh Lake Tourist Area, Phu Ninh Lake has majestic mountain scenery with many large and small islands, green trees, suitable for camping in the middle of nature. Admission to the resort is 70,000 VND for adults, 40,000 VND for children under 1.4m and free for children under 1m.

6. Ke Go Lake (Ha Tinh)

This is an artificial lake and a famous landscape of Ha Tinh. The green lawns, the clear blue lake water are the typical beauty here. You can camp right at the foot of the dam near the marina or in the green lawns to watch the beautiful sunset and sunrise here.

7. Mui Treo (Quang Tri)

Mui Treo belongs to Vinh Linh commune, is a protruding headland about 30 m above sea level. This is a wild and peaceful place, one side is the forest, the other is the sea, suitable for those who like natural space and discover new destinations.

8. Song Muc Lake (Thanh Hoa)

Song Muc Lake is located in Ben En National Park, where there is a wide green grassland as far as the eye can see, is a cool, peaceful and not crowded camping site.

9. Goryeo Peak – Binh Lieu (Quang Ninh)

Goryeo Peak in Binh Lieu (Quang Ninh) has an altitude of more than 1,000 m above sea level, so the air is cool and pleasant. This place is considered by many people as “Sapa of Quang Ninh” thanks to its mild climate all year round. This is also the destination to hunt clouds for many people who love high mountains and the beauty of clouds. Camping here, you will wake up in the morning dew, fanciful and poetic.

10. Dong Cao Plateau (Bac Giang)

Dong Cao Plateau, about 150 km from Hanoi, is a place with a cool climate even though the weather is in the hot plains and vast grasslands. This is a favorite destination for many young people to camp because of the poetic scenery with rolling hills and mountains as far as the eye can see.
