In 2016, Mr. Kyoung Kon traveled to Vietnam for the first time, at the invitation of Vietnamese friends living in Korea. When he first came to the S-shaped land, he did not have much experience but mainly followed your schedule, to Ninh Binh, Cat Ba island (Hai Phong), and Nha Trang (Khanh Hoa). He shared that at that time he was really impressed by the natural beauty of Vietnam, especially the diverse landscape from mountains, sea, rivers, and lakes. He is also attracted by the hospitable and lovely people, especially in Nha Trang.

He met Quyen in Hai Phong, when her family was traveling with his friend in Cat Ba. The first time he met him, he started a conversation, but she didn’t notice even for a minute, which made him impressed with the beautiful, somewhat haughty girl. As a celibate, he suddenly has the determination to pursue her and get married.

Returning to Korea, every month he takes time off for about 3-4 days and uses the excuse of “traveling to Vietnam” to visit Quyen. However, at first, whenever he came, Quyen let her 3-year-old daughter talk and play with him, and she thought of many reasons to avoid her.

Quyen shared that at that time, she had never thought of marrying a foreigner because she had read many stories in the media about unhappy marriages or domestic violence. However, after a year, Mr. Kyoung persistently pursued, cared for, and cared for her and her family, and Quyen was touched, so he agreed to a date and then get married.

5 years together traveling to the land of kimchi

When he first got married and lived in Korea, Mr. Kyoung decided that he would not have children soon and spent the first 2 years taking his wife to travel and learn about his country’s culture and cuisine. On their honeymoon, they drove together through southern Korea to Taean, the famous ancient village of JeonJu, the ancient capital of Gyeongju, and Yeosu. In the first 2 years, they made dozens more domestic trips to the coastal city of Pohang, Geoje Island, Jeju Island Busan, Gumi, Miryang… and the Philippines, Thailand.

Trips with just the two of you are very simple, stop when you’re tired and eat where you like. Quyen shared that she loves the beauty and modernity of Korea, especially in spring when hundreds of flowers bloom in many regions. Regarding food, she doesn’t like sweets, but Koreans have many sweet and greasy dishes. Therefore, at first, Mr. Kyoung was always happy to enjoy Vietnamese dishes cooked by her, than experience many delicious dishes along the way.

When she first came to Korea, Quyen was homesick, but the constant trips helped her get used to the new culture and cuisine faster. Especially on trips, her husband always takes on the role of the photographer so that she can take the best photos. Knowing that her mother also loves to travel, Quyen and her husband welcomed her to the land of kimchi many times, to enjoy the rare beautiful scenery.

After Quyen and her husband welcomed the birth of twins, the trips are still maintained regularly once a week or twice a month when the weather is favorable. They shared that they wanted to take their children out a lot so they could experience and exercise their health soon. However, the schedule for the trip also needs to be more thoughtful, such as booking a room, a restaurant in advance, seeing the weather forecast or the terrain of the destination if it is convenient to use a baby stroller. In addition, they carry a lot of items such as fever reducers, insect repellents, ready-to-eat children’s foods…
