Apple is set to release its iOS 27 update, which will introduce a much-anticipated feature allowing iPhone users to control alarm volume separately from ringtone volume. This update aims to resolve a long-standing issue where adjusting the ringtone volume inadvertently affected the alarm volume, often leading to missed alarms.

The new feature will be available in the Settings under Sounds & Haptics. Users can now find an option labeled 'Match Ringtone Volume' within the Alarms & Timers section. By disabling this option, a new slider will appear, enabling users to set their alarm volume without impacting the ringtone settings. This change is particularly beneficial for users who prefer a loud alarm to wake them up without being disturbed by notifications or other sounds.

In addition to the alarm volume feature, iOS 27 will also enhance the customization options for system sounds, including notification alerts and keyboard sounds. Users will have the choice to determine whether the volume buttons will adjust the ringtone or media playback, providing more control over their audio experience.

While iOS 27 may not be a major overhaul, it includes several small improvements that enhance user experience. The update also brings enhancements to Siri and the Liquid Glass interface, reflecting Apple's commitment to responding to user feedback.

iOS 27 is expected to be available globally on September 15, 2026, for all compatible iPhone models, including older devices. Users with iPhone 11 and later can navigate to Settings > General > Software Update to install iOS 27 once it is released.
