The iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max are anticipated to bring substantial enhancements compared to their predecessors, the iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max. With a scheduled announcement in September, Apple is reportedly focusing on two Pro versions and a new foldable device named iPhone Ultra, while the standard iPhone 18, iPhone Air 2, and iPhone 18e will not be released until early 2027.

One of the most notable changes is in the camera system. According to reliable sources, the camera module on the iPhone 18 Pro will increase in thickness by 2 mm due to an expanded main camera module. Improvements are expected in aperture settings for both the main and telephoto sensors, allowing users to adjust focus and depth of field, particularly enhancing portrait mode. The telephoto lens will also feature a larger aperture for better low-light photography.

For the first time, a variable aperture system, similar to that of DSLR cameras, is expected to debut on the iPhone 18 Pro Max. This system will enable users to control depth of field more effectively, producing natural bokeh effects or sharper images across the frame.

Apple is transitioning to its custom-designed C2 modem for the iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max, moving away from Qualcomm's technology. This change is anticipated to improve battery life, enhance security by limiting precise location tracking, and boost performance in areas with weak signal coverage.

Battery capacity is also set to see significant upgrades. The iPhone 18 Pro Max will reportedly feature a 5,425 mAh battery for eSIM models and 5,235 mAh for physical SIM models, surpassing the iPhone 17 Pro Max's capacities. The iPhone 18 Pro will have a battery capacity of 4,288 mAh for eSIM and 4,056 mAh for physical SIM, showing a slight increase from the previous generation. With the new C2 chip and A20 Pro processor, these models are expected to deliver the best battery performance to date.

Design-wise, the Dynamic Island area on the iPhone 18 Pro will be significantly smaller, reportedly reduced by 35% compared to the iPhone 17 Pro. Additionally, new color options are on the horizon, with deep cherry red and other vibrant colors expected to be introduced, continuing the trend from the previous year's Cosmic Orange.

However, the pricing for the iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max is expected to rise due to increased production costs, particularly for semiconductor components. There may also be limited availability during the initial release phase.
