The Tra Khuc 1 Bridge project in Quang Ngai has officially begun construction, with a total investment of nearly 2,200 billion VND (approximately $100 million). The bridge, which spans the Tra Khuc River, is designed with inspiration from a water wheel, featuring a unique structure of three interconnected steel circles.
On October 8, the Quang Ngai Provincial People's Committee held a groundbreaking ceremony to mark the start of this significant infrastructure project, which aims to replace the aging bridge that has served the community for over 60 years. The project is managed by the Quang Ngai Provincial Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board.
The Tra Khuc 1 Bridge will have a total length of approximately 830 meters, with the bridge itself measuring over 577 meters in length and 28 meters in width. The structure will consist of four self-anchored suspension spans, combined with steel beams and reinforced concrete. Additionally, the design includes a scenic viewing platform at the tower supports, along with lighting and decorative features.
To facilitate the construction of the new bridge, the old My Tra Hotel, located to the north of the existing Tra Khuc 1 Bridge, will be demolished. This hotel has been a well-known landmark in Quang Ngai for over 30 years.
During the groundbreaking ceremony, Nguyen Duc Tam, Chairman of the Quang Ngai Provincial People's Committee, emphasized the historical significance of the existing Tra Khuc 1 Bridge, which has been a familiar sight for generations of local residents. The new bridge is expected to enhance urban development and improve transportation for the local community.
Mr. Tam urged the project investors and related parties to adhere to the construction schedule and to provide regular progress updates to the provincial authorities to ensure timely oversight and management of the project.
