On August 25, 2023, the city of Da Nang officially launched the construction of six new bridges and one pedestrian bridge over the Truong Giang River. This initiative is part of the Integrated Development Project for Da Nang, with a total investment of over 2.72 trillion VND, funded primarily by ODA (67.53%) and local budget contributions, with completion expected by 2031.

The construction will span various districts including Duy Nghia, Thang An, Thang Truong, Ban Thach, Quang Phu, Tam Xuan, Tam Anh, and Tam Hai. The project includes the following bridges: Binh Duong Bridge (0.92 km), Hung My Bridge (2.6 km), Binh Nam Bridge (2.24 km), Tinh Thuy Bridge (1.7 km), Tam Thanh Bridge (1.7 km), and Tam Tien Bridge (0.85 km), along with the restoration of a 0.28 km pedestrian bridge.

All bridges will feature a width of 30 meters and a height of 6 meters. Additionally, the project involves dredging 60 km of the Truong Giang River's inland waterways from Cua Dai to Cua Lo to accommodate vessels with a capacity of 100 tons, along with constructing embankments to prevent riverbank erosion.

Moreover, a flood drainage system will be established, including a 2.38 km long A3 drainage canal with a width of 50 meters connecting the Song Dam Lake to the Truong Giang River, along with a system of regulating culverts and a lock to mitigate flooding.

On the same day, Da Nang also kicked off the construction of the traffic intersection project at Le Thanh Nghi - August Revolution - Thang Long, which will utilize the existing Hoa Xuan Bridge while adding a new bridge downstream. This project has a total investment of over 1.57 trillion VND and is expected to be completed in 730 days to alleviate traffic congestion in the southern part of the city center.

During the ceremony, Nguyen Manh Hung, Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee, emphasized that these infrastructure projects meet three key requirements: connectivity to expand development space, adaptability for sustainable development, and safety to protect residents' lives. He urged all units involved to closely monitor progress, ensure quality, and maintain safety and environmental standards. "Once we start, we must proceed immediately; once we commit, we must deliver; and once we implement, we must achieve tangible results," Mr. Hung stated.
