A recent flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv experienced a terrifying incident when a co-pilot attacked the captain, causing panic among the 180 passengers on board. The flight, operated by Flydubai, was forced to make an emergency landing in Saudi Arabian airspace after the violent altercation in the cockpit.
On September 30, the aircraft signaled an emergency and began descending rapidly, prompting chaos among the passengers, many of whom were Israeli citizens. Eyewitness accounts reported that one of the pilots stabbed the other and attempted to push him out of the cockpit. Passengers intervened, rushing into the cockpit to subdue the attacker as the plane lost altitude.
Yasmin Abukasi recounted her daughter’s experience, noting that screams filled the cabin as a man wielding a knife attacked the captain, leaving blood everywhere. “The plane began to lose control, and everyone thought they were going to die,” she said. Fortunately, two off-duty pilots who were on board as passengers intervened and helped regain control of the situation.
Social media has been flooded with images from the flight, showing a male passenger covered in blood, although he was reportedly unharmed. Another passenger, Miriam, shared her fear during the ordeal, stating, “We only heard screams, then the cockpit door opened, and we saw a lot of blood.”
Reports indicate that the co-pilot may have intended to hijack the plane after attacking the captain, although the exact motive remains unclear. The aircraft descended over 15,000 feet in just a few minutes due to the violent incident. Witnesses described the moment as extremely tense, with passengers realizing that the pilots had lost control.
As investigations continue, the situation has raised significant concerns about in-flight safety and the protocols in place to handle such emergencies. The airline has yet to release an official statement regarding the incident.
