In Vinh Long, the elderly community is stepping up to contribute to the development of their hometown, embodying the spirit of "Elderly Age - Bright Example." Thousands of elderly members are tirelessly dedicating their wisdom, experience, and energy to the socio-economic development and environmental protection efforts in the region, making their hometown increasingly prosperous and beautiful.

As the population ages rapidly, the elderly in Vinh Long are not merely beneficiaries of social welfare policies; they are proving to be a valuable resource. In Tân Long Hội commune, the transformation of rural roads into clean and beautiful pathways is largely attributed to the efforts of elderly members from the local Elderly Association.

Despite being in their seventies and facing physical limitations, these elderly members consistently participate in community clean-up initiatives. Equipped with tools like rakes and brooms, they meticulously cut grass, collect litter, and clear branches obstructing visibility, while also planting flowers and trees along the roads.

Nguyễn Văn Sên, a distinguished member of the Cầu Ván Elderly Association, expressed his joy in contributing to the community: "Although we are older and not as strong as before, witnessing our hometown improve daily brings us great happiness. Simple tasks like cleaning the village roads not only help us stay healthy but also set an example for the younger generations. As long as we have strength, we will continue to contribute to keeping our environment clean and beautiful for everyone to enjoy."

The "Elderly Age - Bright Example" movement extends beyond environmental cleanliness. In Tân Long Hội, there are 2,711 elderly individuals, with over 364 of them recognized for their successful business ventures, earning more than 50 million VND annually. Many of these elderly individuals have established profitable agricultural models, such as growing green-skinned grapefruit, durian, and coconut, as well as providing agricultural mechanization services, which have significantly benefited the local economy and created jobs.

Moreover, the elderly have played a crucial role in resolving over 175 community disputes, helping to maintain security and order in the area. Mai Minh Luật, the President of the Elderly Association in Tân Long Hội, emphasized the importance of the "Elderly Age - Bright Example" movement. She noted that the simple contributions of elderly members not only enhance rural landscapes but also foster a strong sense of community and responsibility.

To further support the elderly, the local government is committed to enhancing care and health protection initiatives. On September 29, a launch ceremony for the Month of Action for the Elderly in Vietnam was held in Long Châu ward, with the theme "Community Collaboration for Integrated Elderly Care in the Context of Population Aging." During the event, local leaders highlighted the importance of caring for and empowering the elderly, ensuring they continue to be a vital part of the community.
