Quang Bi Primary School in Hanoi has decided to stop its lunch service after parents raised concerns about a meal that was described as consisting entirely of fatty meat. This decision was communicated to parents by the head of the school's parent association, who received the notice just last night, effective immediately.

The school plans to announce when it will resume the lunch service, as it seeks a new contractor to provide meals. The local government of Quang Bi has terminated the contract with the previous supplier, citing that they did not meet the necessary standards.

Approximately 2,600 students are affected by this change. The school has advised parents to arrange transportation for their children to ensure they arrive at school safely and on time. Parents have expressed appreciation for the school's prompt response to their concerns.

This incident follows a previous complaint regarding a lunch served on September 23, which featured fried meat that parents described as looking like "all fat." Although authorities suggested that this might have been a misunderstanding due to poor preparation of pork belly and hocks, they acknowledged that the meal did not meet expectations for the price of 40,000 VND.

In recent weeks, there have been numerous complaints about school lunches in Hanoi. Parents from Trung Gia Primary School expressed frustration over meals that were inadequate compared to the price, while other schools like Kim Bai, Nguyen Quy Duc, and Duc Giang reported issues with meals being delivered late by 2-3 hours.

Currently, over 633,000 primary school students in Hanoi, both public and private, receive support for their lunch expenses ranging from 28,000 to 40,000 VND per day, an increase of 8,000 VND from the previous school year. The common fee at schools is between 35,000 and 40,000 VND, with any differences covered by parents.
