Today, September 27, the global oil market has experienced significant fluctuations. WTI crude oil prices fell from $99.53 per barrel last week to $92.44 per barrel this week, marking a decrease of $7.09 or about 7.12%. In contrast, Brent crude oil prices rose from $103.19 per barrel to $104.45 per barrel, reflecting an increase of $1.26 or approximately 1.22%.

The week has seen three trading sessions where prices dropped and two sessions where they increased. The initial decline in oil prices was attributed to diplomatic efforts regarding the U.S.-Iran conflict, alongside signs of recovering oil supply from Saudi Arabia. On Tuesday, prices continued to decline due to an increase in crude oil supply from Saudi Arabia following the restoration of the East-West pipeline.

Midweek, prices reversed direction, rising approximately 2% despite earlier declines, as tensions between the U.S. and Iran escalated. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated that Tehran would not yield to U.S. pressures. On Thursday, prices surged again by about 3% following a missile attack by Houthi forces on Saudi Arabia, raising concerns over supply disruptions. However, prices later eased after reports emerged that the U.S. and Iran were discussing reopening the Strait of Hormuz.

By the end of the week, oil prices fell again by around 2% as expectations grew for a ceasefire between the U.S. and Iran, combined with news of potential U.S. diesel export bans.

Locally, on September 27, retail fuel prices in Vietnam were adjusted by Petrolimex in accordance with the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Finance's regulations. The current retail prices for fuel are as follows:

• Diesel 0.05S - II: 2,250 VND/liter
• E10 RON 95-III: 1,550 VND/liter

Looking ahead, a representative from a fuel trading company has forecasted mixed trends for the next pricing period, with slight increases expected for E10 gasoline and decreases for diesel. Specifically, E10 gasoline may rise by about 200 VND/liter, while diesel could drop by approximately 1,400 VND/liter.
