Oil prices have dropped significantly today, September 17, 2026. The global oil market has experienced a notable decline, with Brent crude falling by $2.92, or 2.7%, and WTI crude decreasing by $3.32, or 3.1%, at the close of trading yesterday.
As of 8:18 AM (Vietnam time), WTI crude is priced at $102.12 per barrel, down $0.31 from the previous session, while Brent crude is at $105.48 per barrel, a decrease of $0.10. The drop in prices is attributed to Saudi Arabia's decision to offer additional crude oil through Oman, which has alleviated fears of supply disruptions from the Middle East.
Saudi Arabia is supplying more crude oil to Asian refineries by transferring oil between ships at the Sohar port in Oman. This move aims to mitigate the impact of a drone attack that damaged the East-West oil pipeline leading to the Red Sea. However, oil transportation through the Strait of Hormuz remains low, with only four tankers reported passing through on September 15, down from seven the previous day and significantly below the recent average of 18 per day.
In Vietnam, the retail prices of gasoline and oil have been adjusted by Petrolimex as of today. The new prices reflect the changes in the global market and are as follows:
Looking ahead, industry representatives predict that retail gasoline prices may increase in the next adjustment period, with E10 gasoline expected to rise by approximately 2,150 VND/liter and diesel by about 3,400 VND/liter. Today's gasoline prices are for reference only and may change according to market developments.
