Gold Prices Continue to Drop Significantly on September 22

On September 22, the gold market in Vietnam continued its downward trend, with substantial decreases in the prices of gold bars and rings. The latest updates indicate that gold bars are being sold at approximately 144.9 million VND per tael at major gold brands, reflecting a drop of 1.7 million VND per tael compared to the previous closing.

In Hanoi and Da Nang, the price of SJC gold is currently at 141.9 million VND for buying and 144.9 million VND for selling. Similarly, in Ho Chi Minh City, the prices remain consistent with those in Hanoi and Da Nang. The Doji gold price in Hanoi is also at 141.9 million VND for buying and 144.9 million VND for selling, marking a decrease of 1.7 million VND in both buying and selling prices.

The price of rings has also seen a significant drop, with the 9999 gold ring from Hung Thinh Vuong at Doji listed between 142 and 146 million VND (buying - selling), down by 800,000 VND. The SJC gold rings are priced at 141.4 to 144.4 million VND, showing a similar decrease.

On the global stage, as of September 22, the price of gold has also decreased, with spot gold falling by $23 per ounce to $4,335. The December 2026 futures on the Comex in New York are priced at $4,384 per ounce. Despite the Federal Reserve's interest rate hikes, gold has managed to maintain a level above $4,300 per ounce, indicating its resilience.

Market analysts suggest that the ongoing geopolitical tensions, particularly concerning Iran and sanctions on Russia, coupled with reduced trade risks between the U.S. and China, are influencing the gold market. The demand for gold as a safe haven remains strong, although higher yields are limiting its ability to break through recent highs.

As of now, the difference between domestic and global gold prices is approximately 7.8 million VND per tael, with global gold prices listed at Kitco reflecting this disparity. Further updates on gold prices for September 23 will be provided to keep readers informed.
