Weekend Weather Forecast: Significant Temperature Fluctuations

The weekend weather forecast indicates a notable temperature difference, with daytime highs expected to reach 27 degrees Celsius while nighttime lows may drop to around 15 degrees. Yesterday morning marked the coldest point of the fall season so far, with temperatures in Seoul falling to 13.4 degrees Celsius and even lower in mountainous areas like Seoraksan, which experienced a chill of 2.3 degrees.

Today, temperatures in Seoul have risen to approximately 17 degrees Celsius. As the day progresses, sunny intervals are anticipated, leading to warmer conditions. However, the significant temperature swings between day and night may pose health risks, particularly respiratory illnesses.

Health authorities have issued a warning as flu cases have been rising unusually early this year, particularly among children and teenagers. Citizens are advised to practice good hygiene, including frequent hand washing and proper ventilation of indoor spaces.

The clear and cool weather is also a precursor to the autumn foliage season, with the first signs of fall colors expected soon. The first autumn leaves are projected to appear on Seoraksan around September 30, followed by Bukhansan on October 18, and Naejangsan and Mudeungsan on October 27.

Fog is expected in various inland areas this morning, so travelers should exercise caution. Current temperatures show Seoul at 18 degrees Celsius, with Daejeon and Cheongju expected to reach 27 degrees. In the southern regions, temperatures will start at 18 degrees in Andong, rising to 29 degrees in Daegu and Busan, and reaching 30 degrees in Gwangju.

As sea levels are currently rising, residents in low-lying areas should be cautious of potential flooding during high tide. Overall, pleasant autumn weather is expected to continue throughout the holiday weekend, although some rain may fall in the mountainous regions of Jeju. Given the significant temperature variations between morning and afternoon, appropriate clothing choices are recommended.
