Two contractors working on the Nguyen Hoang road and Huong River bridge project in Hue have recently been penalized for delays in construction. The total investment for the project is approximately 2.3 trillion VND, and the contractors were fined a total of 200 million VND due to their failure to adhere to the agreed timeline.

On August 26, the Project Management Board of Traffic Construction Investment in Hue announced that it had issued a decision to impose penalties on the two contractors responsible for package 17A of the Nguyen Hoang road and Huong River bridge project. The companies affected are Thang Loi Group Joint Stock Company and An Thuan Investment and Construction Joint Stock Company, each receiving a fine of 100 million VND. The total penalty will be deducted directly from their next payment.

Prior to the imposition of fines, the project owner had conducted multiple site inspections and issued three reminders on July 23, July 30, and August 12. Despite these efforts, the contractors failed to meet the required progress. A representative from the project management board emphasized that the penalties aim to strengthen compliance with the contract, ensuring both timely completion and quality of this key infrastructure project in Hue.

The Nguyen Hoang road and Huong River bridge project commenced in December 2022. As of now, the Nguyen Hoang bridge over the Huong River has been completed and is in use. This project plays a crucial role in enhancing the connectivity of the city’s ring road 3, improving traffic flow across both banks of the Huong River, and alleviating pressure on National Route 1 and existing urban roads.
