Take-Two Interactive, the parent company of Rockstar Games, has taken legal action by filing subpoenas in federal court to obtain information regarding the recent leaks of Grand Theft Auto VI gameplay videos. The subpoenas target both Microsoft and Discord, requesting access to records associated with online accounts that have been involved in posting and disseminating the leaked content.

The legal documents, submitted to the Southern District Court of New York, specify that Take-Two is seeking a variety of user data, including identifying information from accounts linked to the leaks. This includes records from Microsoft’s OneDrive and Xbox accounts, as well as data from Discord servers where discussions related to the leaks have occurred.

In the petition, Take-Two stated, "The copyrighted material includes but is not limited to audiovisual content, artwork, images, dialogue, or other creative elements." The request aims to identify individuals or entities responsible for the unauthorized distribution of gameplay footage, which has surfaced online prior to the game's scheduled release in November.

The subpoenas require Microsoft to provide comprehensive records by September 4, detailing any internal investigations related to the alias “Cyberleek,” which has been linked to the leaks. Similarly, Discord has been asked to supply information regarding user accounts that communicated within specific servers associated with the leaked content.

Matthew Judge, a popular streamer known as DarkViperAU, expressed confusion over his mention in the subpoenas, clarifying that he has no direct involvement with the leaks. He stated, "I don’t know anything. That isn’t my editor's Discord. There aren’t even any clips of the leaks in either of my Discords." Judge's comments highlight the complexities and misunderstandings surrounding the ongoing investigation.

The identity of the individual or group behind the leaks remains unknown, and Rockstar Games has yet to comment publicly on the situation. The leaked footage has generated significant buzz online, showcasing new features and elements of the game, while also raising questions about the ethics of pre-release content distribution and the practices of game companies.
