In response to heavy rainfall affecting Hanoi, several schools have announced delays in their opening days and a transition to online learning. As of 1 AM on August 24, many classes at Kim Giang Primary School informed parents via class groups and Zalo that the student gathering scheduled for today was postponed to August 25.

Although the students had not yet begun their official school year, the school had planned for grades 2, 3, 4, and 5 to meet their homeroom teachers this morning. However, to ensure the safety of the students, the school decided to delay the meeting.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, due to the impact of Typhoon No. 4, Hanoi is expected to experience moderate to heavy rainfall, with some areas receiving over 200 mm. As a precaution, Kim Giang Primary School announced the rescheduling of the student gathering to 8 AM on August 25.

Nguyen Quang Tung, the principal of Lomonosov High School, stated that the school proactively notified students about the delay in classes due to the heavy rain. The school plans to allow students who arrive late due to traffic caused by the rain to go directly to their classrooms. If the rain continues lightly throughout the day, students may be dismissed early to avoid severe traffic congestion.

Parents of students at specialized schools under Hanoi National University of Education, including Nguyen Tat Thanh Secondary and High School and the Specialized High School, have also reported that these institutions are shifting to online classes.

As of 10 PM last night, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training issued a notice to schools in the area, urging them to closely monitor weather developments and proactively plan for student learning. The department emphasized the importance of ensuring the safety of students, staff, and teachers, advising schools to handle any arising situations and report to management as necessary.
