A team from Hải Phòng, named Bạch Long Vĩ, has emerged victorious in the national finals of the competition 'I Love My Homeland's Sea and Islands,' scoring an impressive 476 points. The finals took place on August 22 at the S1 Studio of the Military Broadcasting and Television Center, organized by the Vietnam Coast Guard.

The event was attended by General Nguyễn Trọng Nghĩa, a member of the Politburo and Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party, who encouraged the participating teams. The national finals featured six outstanding teams from Hải Phòng, Thanh Hóa, Quảng Ngãi, Lâm Đồng, Ho Chi Minh City, and Cà Mau, each consisting of five students who had excelled in regional rounds to qualify for the finals.

The atmosphere at the S1 Studio was lively, with enthusiastic support from the audience for the competing teams. To reach the finals, students underwent rigorous preparation, guided by their teachers and supported by various organizations and families. The teams competed closely, with scores changing rapidly throughout the event.

The competition tested students' knowledge of maritime issues, national sovereignty, and their ability to think quickly under pressure. In addition to knowledge-based questions, the finals included a segment called 'Overcoming Waves,' where teams drew topics and had to present their understanding on the spot. This segment highlighted students' presentation skills, quick thinking, confidence, and their sense of national pride and responsibility towards their homeland.

As the competition progressed, the tension increased, with teams maintaining their composure and determination in response to crucial questions. Ultimately, the Bạch Long Vĩ team from Hải Phòng secured the top position with 476 points.

The 'I Love My Homeland's Sea and Islands' competition has been organized by the Vietnam Coast Guard for several years, aiming to equip young people with knowledge and instill a sense of pride and responsibility regarding Vietnam's maritime sovereignty. Major General Bùi Quốc Oai, the Political Commissar of the Vietnam Coast Guard, stated that the organization has transformed legal systems into engaging questions suitable for students' interests. Additionally, combining theoretical knowledge with practical experiences, such as visits to Coast Guard ships and learning about patrols and rescue operations, has made the topic of maritime issues more relatable and engaging for students.

Phạm Hà Ly, an eighth-grade student from Đông Hải 2 Secondary School in Hải Phòng, expressed that the competition deepened her understanding of the value of the sea and islands. 'The sea and islands are not just invaluable resources but also witnesses of history, integral to our nation's identity,' she shared.

The gala event to conclude and award the 'I Love My Homeland's Sea and Islands' competition for the 2025-2026 academic year will take place on the evening of August 23 in Hanoi.
