Vietnam's U17 women's football team has received a favorable draw for the AFC U17 Women's Asian Cup 2027 qualifiers, announced by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) in Kuala Lumpur on July 16. The team will compete in Group D, which includes Kyrgyzstan, Palestine, and the Northern Mariana Islands.
As the host nation for the qualifying matches, Vietnam is considered to have a significant advantage. The qualifiers are set to take place from October 5 to 11, 2026, with Vietnam aiming to finish at the top of Group D to secure a spot in the finals of the AFC U17 Women's Asian Cup 2027.
The tournament will feature 30 teams divided into eight groups, with six groups consisting of four teams and two groups of three. Each group will compete in a single round-robin format at centralized venues. The eight group winners will qualify for the finals, joining four teams that have already secured automatic qualification based on their performances at the 2026 tournament. These teams include the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Japan, Australia, and China.
The AFC U17 Women's Asian Cup 2027 finals will take place in China from March 31 to April 17, 2027. Notably, the top four teams from this tournament will qualify for the FIFA U17 Women's World Cup, which will be held in Morocco later that year.
Vietnam's U17 women's team is looking forward to leveraging their home advantage in the qualifiers and hopes to make a strong showing to advance to the finals.
