Russia Strikes Ukrainian UAV and Missile Production Facility
Russia has launched an attack on a Ukrainian facility responsible for the production of unmanned aerial

Ukraine has recently carried out its most extensive long-range attack on Russia since the onset of the conflict, utilizing an astonishing 8,477 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and 26 Flamingo cruise missiles within a single week. The Russian Ministry of Defense disclosed these figures, which, if verified, would mark a record in the number of aerial assault weapons employed by Ukraine in such a short timeframe.
According to reports from the Russian Defense Ministry and Interfax on August 21, Ukraine's deployment of 8,477 UAVs alongside the 26 Flamingo missiles targeted various locations within Russian territory. The Ukrainian side has yet to comment on these figures, and the Ukrainian Defense Ministry has not publicly disclosed the number of aerial weapons launched against Russia.
In addition to the UAVs and Flamingo missiles, Russia claims that Ukraine also utilized 70 guided bombs and 17 rockets from HIMARS and Vampire systems during the same period. However, these claims have not been independently verified.
Among the weapons mentioned by Russia, the Flamingo cruise missile, developed by Ukraine, has emerged as a significant threat. Reports suggest that Ukraine has significantly increased the frequency of Flamingo missile strikes against deep Russian targets in recent months. Previously, the Flamingo was relatively rare in long-range attacks, but it is now becoming a more regular threat to Russia's strategic facilities.
Earlier in August, reports indicated that a Flamingo missile successfully struck a facility in Samara related to Russia's space industry, which is involved in producing missiles for a satellite communication project that Moscow hopes will rival Starlink. Over the past six months, Ukraine has reportedly nearly doubled its use of Flamingo missiles, transforming this domestic weapon from a rare deep-strike tool into a recurring threat against Russian targets.
Previously, Russia had claimed that Ukraine conducted one of the largest UAV attacks ever, with 1,671 UAVs reportedly shot down by Russian air defense forces within just 24 hours. Moscow's continuous release of record figures highlights the expanding scale of the UAV warfare. Ukraine is not only increasing its UAV numbers but is also accelerating the development of domestic long-range weapons like the Flamingo to target military, defense industry, and critical infrastructure deep within Russian territory.
Despite these developments, the actual scale of the operation involving 8,477 UAVs and 26 Flamingo missiles remains unverified independently.
