The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting has announced that the severe heat wave affecting Northern Vietnam is expected to ease starting August 15. Currently, the region is experiencing widespread high temperatures, with maximum readings between 35 and 38 degrees Celsius in many areas.

As of August 12, temperatures in Northern Vietnam, excluding Lai Chau and Dien Bien, have reached alarming levels. For instance, Lạc Sơn in Phu Tho recorded 38.3 degrees Celsius, while Láng in Hanoi reached 38.8 degrees Celsius. The humidity levels are also notably low, ranging from 50 to 60 percent.

On August 13 and 14, the heat will persist, with temperatures remaining high, especially in the northern provinces. The forecast indicates that the maximum temperatures will stay between 35 and 37 degrees Celsius, with some areas exceeding 37 degrees Celsius. The humidity is expected to be slightly higher, between 55 and 60 percent.

In the central region, from Thanh Hoa to Hue, similar heat conditions will prevail with temperatures reaching 35 to 37 degrees Celsius. The cities of Da Nang and the eastern regions of Quang Ngai to Dak Lak are also under the influence of this heat wave, with temperatures hitting 36 to 38 degrees Celsius.

As the heat wave continues, the risk of natural disasters due to high temperatures is at a level 1 warning. The combination of intense heat and low humidity raises concerns about potential fires and health risks, including dehydration for individuals exposed to high temperatures for extended periods.

It is important to note that the forecasted temperatures may differ from actual readings by 1 to 3 degrees Celsius, depending on local conditions such as concrete and asphalt surfaces.
