Lâm Đồng province has put forward a proposal to construct the Phan Thiết - Bảo Lộc highway, which will cover a distance of 73 kilometers and feature four lanes. The total investment for this ambitious project is estimated at 26 trillion VND.

The provincial government has requested the Ministry of Finance to consider providing approximately 10 trillion VND from the central budget for the project, which is expected to be implemented between 2026 and 2030. This funding will account for about 38% of the total investment, while local budgets will contribute around 5.6 trillion VND (21%). The remaining funds, approximately 10.4 trillion VND, will be raised through public-private partnerships (BOT).

The highway will consist of a main route measuring 67 kilometers, along with 2.9 kilometers of elevated sections and 2.8 kilometers of tunnels. Designed for speeds ranging from 80 to 100 km/h, the highway will include emergency lanes and a 24-meter-wide roadway, ensuring safety and efficiency for travelers.

This project has recently been included in the national highway planning network, which extends to 2030 with a vision for 2050. The entire Phan Thiết - Bảo Lộc - Gia Nghĩa - Bu Prăng route will stretch approximately 194 kilometers, comprising two segments: Phan Thiết - Bảo Lộc - Gia Nghĩa (141 km) and Gia Nghĩa - Bu Prăng (53 km).

Once completed, the highway is expected to serve as a vital transportation corridor along the East-West axis, linking the Bu Prăng border gate with Gia Nghĩa, Bảo Lộc, Phan Thiết, and the Sơn Mỹ and Phan Thiết seaports. It will enhance connectivity from the Central Highlands to the South Central Coast, fostering regional economic development and strengthening ties among the provinces of Đăk Nông, Lâm Đồng, and Bình Thuận.

Moreover, the highway is anticipated to stimulate the East-West economic corridor, promoting logistics, exports, industrial growth, trade, services, tourism, and agriculture in the area.
