On August 4, in Havana, representatives from Vietnam's TBAgri agricultural company and Cuba's Fernando Echenique Grain Industry (GRANMAX) signed an agreement for the delivery of more than 470 tons of rice. This rice was produced from the OM5451 rice variety cultivated by TBAgri in Yara, Granma province in eastern Cuba.

This delivery represents the first batch of rice exchanged under the "TBAgri Connects Vietnam-Cuba" project, highlighting the success of large-scale rice production efforts in Cuba. During the signing ceremony, Cuba's Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Telce Abdel González Morena, reaffirmed the commitment to facilitate the operations of Vietnamese agricultural enterprises in Cuba, particularly encouraging TBAgri to expand its cultivation area to contribute to food security in the country.

Vietnam's Ambassador to Cuba, Lê Quang Long, praised this achievement as a new milestone in agricultural cooperation between the two nations, which strengthens the fraternal ties and comprehensive collaboration between Vietnam and Cuba. Trần Thùy Dung, Director of TBAgri, noted that the journey from the first Vietnamese OM5451 seeds planted in Yara to the delivery of rice bags showcases the collaborative efforts between the company's technical team and its Cuban partners. The adaptability of the rice variety, combined with improved cultivation techniques, has yielded positive results in this initial production cycle.
