Khánh Hòa province is moving forward with its compensation and land clearance plan for the high-speed rail project, which is expected to cost around $67 billion. This ambitious infrastructure project, approved by the National Assembly in November 2024, will cover a total length of 1,541 km, with the Khánh Hòa segment measuring nearly 192 km.

The provincial government has outlined a plan to establish 31 resettlement areas, with an investment of approximately 1,744 billion VND. This initiative aims to support the relocation of residents affected by the construction of the rail line, which will include three stations: two passenger stations in Diên Khánh and Tháp Chàm, and one cargo station in Ninh Hòa, enhancing connectivity with the Vân Phong Economic Zone.

The land clearance process is scheduled to take place from 2026 to 2028, divided into two main components: clearing the main line and developing infrastructure for the resettlement areas. The timeline for land clearance is structured to ensure timely completion, with the provincial management teams set to begin work based on approved designs and land clearance markers.

From 2026 to 2027, the focus will be on completing land surveys, evaluating compensation plans, and approving resettlement strategies across the affected areas. The subsequent phase, from 2027 to 2028, will involve compensation payments, land recovery, and the relocation of essential infrastructure such as power, telecommunications, and water supply systems.

The province aims to complete the main line's land clearance by the fourth quarter of 2028. Additionally, the construction of resettlement areas is prioritized to start in 2026 to ensure that necessary infrastructure is in place before the land recovery process for displaced residents begins.

The Khánh Hòa Provincial People's Committee has designated the Department of Construction as the lead agency to coordinate with local authorities and the Ministry of Construction to streamline the land clearance process. The Department of Agriculture and Environment will also assist in addressing land policy issues and enhancing land management in the area.

This project not only aims to meet government deadlines for land handover but also seeks to effectively utilize land around the railway stations through urban development models integrated with public transport. It is important to note that the timeline and compensation plans may be adjusted based on detailed planning changes and actual boundary handovers from relevant authorities.
