On July 27, 2026, a significant event took place in Hanoi as the Ministry of Public Security and Petrovietnam, the national oil and gas group, signed a cooperation program. This initiative is designed to enhance national security and social order while fostering sustainable development in the industrial and energy sectors for the period of 2026 to 2030.
The signing ceremony was led by General Luong Tam Quang, a Politburo member and Minister of Public Security, alongside Le Ngoc Son, Chairman of the Member Council of Petrovietnam. The event also saw the participation of various high-ranking officials from both organizations, highlighting the importance of this collaboration.
During the ceremony, Le Manh Cuong, General Director of Petrovietnam, emphasized that the cooperation program aligns the mission of safeguarding national security with the development of industry, technology, and national self-reliance. The scope of this partnership extends beyond traditional oil and gas security to encompass the entire industrial and energy sector, including exploration, extraction, and new energy fields.
Moreover, the approach has shifted from reactive measures to proactive research, forecasting, and risk management right from the strategic planning phase. This updated program also incorporates new security requirements in the context of digital transformation and energy transition, addressing cybersecurity, information security, and geopolitical risks.
A notable aspect of this program is its expansion to include joint research and development efforts, promoting scientific and technological activities, and enhancing human resources training. It aims to leverage the capabilities of the Ministry of Public Security in providing technical systems for security and safety in Petrovietnam's projects.
Chairman Le Ngoc Son expressed gratitude towards the sacrifices of the heroes and martyrs, including law enforcement personnel, who have contributed to the nation's security. He reiterated the commitment that as Petrovietnam grows, it will also enhance national energy security.
Minister Luong Tam Quang reaffirmed the historical cooperation between the Ministry of Public Security and Petrovietnam, which has been vital for economic and energy security in Vietnam. He pointed out that the current global and regional dynamics necessitate a new level of collaboration, making this cooperation program crucial for the future.
This partnership sets a solid foundation for both entities to implement their tasks effectively and cohesively, ensuring national security and social order while facilitating Petrovietnam's rapid and sustainable development.
