On July 24, the People's Committee of Quang Tri Province announced a directive requiring local departments and authorities to urgently review and finalize plans for the restructuring of public educational institutions. The goal is to reduce the number of public schools by at least 50% compared to the figures from July 1, 2025.

This restructuring plan must align with the actual conditions of each locality and comply with legal regulations. The initiative is part of a broader effort to optimize the organization of the education system in the province.

In addition to this significant reduction, the education sector in Gia Lai Province is facing a severe shortage of personnel. For the 2025-2026 academic year, Gia Lai has 1,283 public educational institutions, accommodating over 724,000 students. However, the workforce is expected to decrease by approximately 10%, with only 39,627 staff members allocated for the upcoming year. This leaves a shortfall of over 7,200 personnel needed to meet the demands of the growing student population.

Furthermore, there have been concerns regarding the submission of IELTS certificates for university admissions. A parent reported that their child’s IELTS submission to the Ministry of Education and Training was not recognized by the National Economics University, leading to issues with the admission process. The university clarified that all candidates must submit their applications directly through its system, despite the Ministry's guidelines.

These developments highlight ongoing challenges in Vietnam's education sector, including staffing shortages and procedural inconsistencies in admissions.
