Indonesia's national football team is set to compete in the ASEAN Cup 2026 with a notable roster that includes 12 players of Dutch descent. While the team will not be at full strength due to the absence of several key players competing in Europe, the blend of local and Dutch heritage talent provides a solid foundation for their campaign.

Among the notable players is Ragnar Oratmagoen, who recently scored in a 3-0 victory against Vietnam during the second round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. The match took place at My Dinh Stadium in Hanoi on March 26, 2024. Indonesia's squad is missing around 13 well-known Dutch heritage players, including goalkeeper Maarten Paes from Ajax and defender Kevin Diks from Borussia Monchengladbach, as the ASEAN Cup falls outside FIFA's scheduled match days.

The current roster, announced on July 24, features Justin Hubner, a defender playing for Fortuna Sittard in the Netherlands, and Mitchell Baker, a forward from Georgetown Hoyas in the United States. The remaining nine Dutch heritage players are currently active in Indonesia, including defenders Shayne Pattynama and Sandy Walsh, as well as midfielder Thom Haye.

Marc Klok, who previously faced Vietnam in the semifinals of the AFF Cup in 2022, is the only naturalized player on the team. Klok is remembered for a controversial incident involving a foul against Vietnamese player Doan Van Hau, which gained significant attention on social media.

This squad includes many members from the team that achieved success against Vietnam in the Asian Cup 2023 and World Cup qualifiers earlier in 2024. The Indonesian team is under the guidance of coach John Herdman, who has emphasized the importance of using the ASEAN Cup as a developmental opportunity rather than solely aiming for victory.

"Our goal is to qualify for the World Cup and then compete at the Asian level," Herdman stated. "The ASEAN Cup offers a chance for growth for the entire team. Vietnam is a challenging opponent and a significant test for us." Indonesia will kick off their campaign against Cambodia at home on July 27, followed by matches against Timor Leste, Vietnam, and Singapore.

Historically, Indonesia has never won the Southeast Asian championship, finishing as runners-up six times in the Tiger Cup and AFF Cup finals.
