USD Rises as Other Currencies Decline Amid Inflation Concerns

The US dollar has strengthened today, July 24, 2026, as concerns over inflation rise alongside increasing oil prices. In commercial banks, the dollar's value has increased by 10 VND, with Vietcombank buying at 26,100 - 26,130 VND and selling at 26,510 VND. Similarly, ACB reports buying at the same rate and selling at 26,490 VND, while Vietinbank's rates are slightly lower, buying at 26,063 - 26,128 VND and selling at 26,510 VND.

Meanwhile, other currencies have experienced declines. At Vietcombank, the Euro has decreased by 90 VND, now buying at 29,183 - 29,477 VND and selling at 30,721 VND. The British Pound has also dropped by 150 VND, with buying rates at 34,150 - 34,495 VND and selling at 35,600 VND.

On the global market, the US dollar has seen a robust increase, with the USD-Index rising by 0.31 points to reach 101.44 points. The dollar has achieved its highest value in 40 years against both the Japanese yen and the Euro. The oil prices continue to climb due to tensions in the Middle East, while the European Central Bank (ECB) has decided to maintain interest rates.

US President Donald Trump has announced plans to implement strong military sanctions against Iran and allied Houthi forces following attacks on two Saudi oil tankers in the Red Sea, escalating conflicts in the region and impacting global oil supply routes.

The dollar's recent increase is also linked to new attacks in the ongoing US-Iran conflict, which have caused oil prices to spike, raising concerns about potential inflationary pressures. This situation has reinforced speculation that the US Federal Reserve may continue to raise interest rates.

The US economy is perceived to be more resilient to energy price shocks compared to Europe and Japan, providing additional support for the dollar's strength.
