The Political Bureau of Vietnam has officially announced a leadership exchange between the provinces of Tây Ninh and Vĩnh Long. Nguyễn Mạnh Hùng, previously the Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Council of Tây Ninh, has been appointed as the Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee in Vĩnh Long for the 2025-2030 term. In turn, Hồ Thị Hoàng Yến, who served as the Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee in Vĩnh Long, will now hold the same position in Tây Ninh.

Nguyễn Mạnh Hùng, 52, hails from Vĩnh Long and holds a degree in Economics. He has progressed through various roles within the provincial government, including positions such as Deputy Head of the Office of the People's Committee, Director of the Department of Planning and Investment, and Secretary of the Tây Ninh City Party Committee. He was elected as a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party during the 14th Congress held in January.

On the other hand, Hồ Thị Hoàng Yến, 55, also from Vĩnh Long, has degrees in Economics and Political Science. Her career began at the Office of the People's Committee in Sơn Đông, Bến Tre. She has held several significant positions, including Deputy Head of the Organization Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Secretary of the Bến Tre City Party Committee. Like Hùng, she was elected to the Central Committee during the 14th Congress.

This leadership exchange comes at a crucial time as both provinces have recently undergone administrative restructuring. Tây Ninh was formed through the merger of Tây Ninh and Long An provinces, while Vĩnh Long emerged from the unification of Vĩnh Long, Bến Tre, and Trà Vinh. Following these changes, both regions are in the process of solidifying their leadership structures for the upcoming term.

Vĩnh Long, located in the heart of the Mekong Delta, spans an area of 6,296 square kilometers and has a population of approximately 4.2 million. The province aims to maintain an average GRDP growth rate of 10% annually, targeting a per capita GRDP of around 170 million VND by 2030. Meanwhile, Tây Ninh covers 8,536 square kilometers, with a population of about 3.3 million, and aims for an average economic growth rate of 10-10.5% annually, with a goal of achieving a per capita GRDP of 8,000-8,500 USD by 2030.
