List of Universities Offering Monthly Support for Students

In Vietnam, students pursuing degrees in specific fields are now eligible for monthly financial support between 3.7 million and 5.5 million VND. This initiative, outlined in Government Decree No. 179/2026/ND-CP, aims to promote education in critical areas such as basic sciences, key engineering, and strategic technologies.

According to the decree, students in 15 designated fields can receive this financial aid, with master's and doctoral students eligible for higher amounts ranging from 5.5 to 8.4 million VND per month. To qualify for this support, students must be accepted into programs that fall under the specified categories. Additionally, they must either be national scholarship recipients or achieve a minimum score of 22.5 in their graduation exam across specific subjects, ranking within the top 30% nationally in their field.

The scholarship will be renewed annually based on the student's academic performance, credit accumulation, and research outcomes. Several universities in Hanoi have already announced the programs eligible for this financial support. Here are some highlights:

  • Hanoi University of Science and Technology: Offers 55 programs with monthly support of 5.5 million VND, including integrated master's programs in fields like Computer Science and Chemical Engineering.
  • University of Natural Sciences, Vietnam National University: Provides 27 programs, including Mathematics, Computer Science, and Environmental Sciences.
  • University of Technology, Vietnam National University: Features 18 programs such as Biotechnology, Computer Engineering, and Robotics.
  • Post and Telecommunications Institute of Technology: Offers 20 programs including Computer Science and Information Security.
  • Hanoi University of Industry: Supports 10 programs, including Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science.
  • University of Transport: Provides 35 programs, including Civil Engineering and Environmental Engineering.
  • University of Mining and Geology: Offers 35 programs focusing on Mining Engineering and Geology.

This initiative reflects the government's commitment to enhancing the quality of higher education in Vietnam and supporting students in critical fields that contribute to national development.
