The latest weather forecast released on July 17 indicates significant rainfall across several regions in Vietnam, particularly in the Central and Southern provinces. Rain is expected to begin in the Chungcheong region and the southern areas, including Jeju Island, with the possibility of expanding to the capital region and Gangwon Province by nightfall.
The anticipated rainfall amounts are as follows: Daejeon, Sejong, and Chungnam and Chungbuk provinces may receive between 20 to 60 millimeters, while Jeonbuk, Gwangju, Jeonnam, Busan, Ulsan, Gyeongnam, and Daegu may see between 5 to 60 millimeters. Jeju Island is expected to receive 5 to 10 millimeters of rain.
From early tomorrow until the day after, rain will continue nationwide. The capital region, Gangwon, and Chungcheong provinces are forecasted to receive between 80 to 150 millimeters, with some regions in southern Gyeonggi and the central inland areas of Gangwon expecting over 250 millimeters of heavy rainfall. Northern Gyeongbuk may see between 50 to 100 millimeters, while Jeonbuk could receive 30 to 80 millimeters. The southern Gyeonggi region is likely to experience intense rainfall of 50 to 80 millimeters per hour during the early morning hours.
In addition to the rain, high temperatures are expected to persist, with the perceived temperature reaching around 31 degrees Celsius in most regions and up to 33 degrees in Jeju. A heatwave warning is currently in effect for Jeju, where nighttime temperatures may not drop below 25 degrees, leading to tropical nights. To prevent heat-related illnesses, it is advised to limit outdoor activities and stay hydrated.
Moreover, visibility issues due to fog are anticipated in the inland areas of Gyeonggi and Gangwon, with visibility dropping below one kilometer. Sea fog is also expected over the West Sea, South Sea, and around Jeju, with some islands experiencing visibility of less than 200 meters. Mariners are advised to exercise caution due to strong winds and potential thunderstorms.
As the gravitational pull of the moon affects sea levels, there is a possibility of storm surges along the western and Jeolla coastlines, as well as around Jeju Island. Residents are urged to stay informed and take necessary precautions.
