Despite a rise in gold prices over the past week, investors are facing losses of up to 1.7 million VND per

Gold prices in Vietnam have experienced a dramatic decline over the past three months, with buyers facing substantial losses. As of July 14, 2026, the price of SJC gold bars has decreased significantly, leading to losses of approximately 29.2 to 31 million VND per ounce for those who purchased gold in mid-April.
At DOJI Group, the price of SJC gold bars is currently listed at 143.8-146.8 million VND per ounce, down from 170-173 million VND just three months ago. Buyers who purchased gold at the higher price are now facing a loss of 29.2 million VND per ounce when selling back to the company.
Similarly, Bảo Tín Minh Châu reports a current price of 142-146 million VND per ounce, reflecting a drop of 28 million VND for buying and 27 million VND for selling compared to three months prior. This brand has resulted in the largest losses for buyers, with those who bought gold at 173 million VND now only able to sell it for 142 million VND, incurring a loss of 31 million VND per ounce.
Phú Quý has also seen a decline, with prices at 143.3-146.8 million VND per ounce, leading to losses of 29.7 million VND for buyers who purchased gold at the previous higher prices.
In addition to SJC gold bars, the price of 9999 gold rings has also fallen sharply. At DOJI, the price is now 143-146.5 million VND per ounce, down from 170-173 million VND, resulting in a loss of 30 million VND for buyers. Bảo Tín Minh Châu and Phú Quý are reporting similar trends, with losses ranging from 30 to 30.7 million VND per ounce for gold rings.
On the global stage, gold prices have also dropped significantly, falling from 4,761.1 USD per ounce to 4,016 USD per ounce over the same period, a decrease of 745.1 USD or approximately 15.7%. This global decline is likely to continue affecting the domestic market, potentially leading to further adjustments in gold prices and additional losses for buyers who purchased at higher rates.
As the market remains volatile, experts advise caution among investors, especially those considering short-term transactions. The high buy-sell spread increases the risk of losses, particularly in a fluctuating market.
