Update on Dam Vinh Hung's Lawsuit in the U.S.: Three Defendants Added

In a significant update regarding the lawsuit involving Vietnamese singer Dam Vinh Hung, new motions have been filed in the Orange County Superior Court in California. Nearly two years after the incident that occurred at a villa in Newport Coast, the plaintiff, Hung Huynh, has requested the court to allow amendments to the original complaint, which includes adding several individuals and entities allegedly involved in the organization of the event where the accident took place.

The incident in question occurred on February 19, 2024, during a recreational event at the villa. According to the lawsuit, the plaintiff was legally present at the venue when a concrete fountain unexpectedly collapsed. The complaint alleges that the structure was used outside of its intended purpose, leading to a failure to support the load, which resulted in severe injuries to the plaintiff's leg, necessitating surgery and partial amputation of his foot and toes.

On July 6, 2026, the Dhillon Law Group Inc., representing the plaintiff, submitted a motion to the court requesting approval for the First Amended Complaint (FAC). The plaintiff aims to replace previously unnamed defendants (referred to as Doe defendants) with specific individuals and entities, including T&T Entertainment - LLC, Bich Tuyen (Tuyen Nguyen / Tiffany Williams), and Tuyet Ly (Tuyen Den). Notably, Bich Tuyen is a well-known singer in the Vietnamese community in the U.S. and is the wife of Gerard Richard Williams III, the villa's owner, who was initially named as a defendant in the original lawsuit.

Following the public disclosure of the lawsuit in late 2024, Bich Tuyen confirmed that her family had received the lawsuit documents and indicated they would address the matter through legal counsel. The lawsuit claims that these individuals and organizations played a role in organizing, promoting, managing, or profiting from the event where the accident occurred. The plaintiff contends that this group is responsible for the arrangement and operation of the event.

It is important to note that these allegations are presented by the plaintiff and have not yet been adjudicated by the court. A hearing to consider the motion to amend the complaint is scheduled for October 5, 2026. The court has yet to issue a ruling on the merits of the case, and the claims in the amended complaint reflect the plaintiff's perspective.

Additionally, the amended complaint raises issues regarding the event's licensing. The plaintiff argues that the event may not have obtained the necessary permits or approvals from the Newport Beach city authorities. Furthermore, the use of the fountain as a stage or event area may not have met safety standards. These points are intended to establish the liability of the individuals and organizations proposed to be added to the lawsuit.

The hearing on the motion to amend the complaint is set for 1:45 PM on October 5, 2026, presided over by Judge Yolanda V. Torres. If approved, the lawsuit will officially include four new defendants alongside the current defendant, Gerard Richard Williams III. As of now, the court has not made a ruling on the case's content, and the claims and arguments in the amended filing represent only the plaintiff's viewpoint. The rights of the individuals and organizations proposed to be added will be protected according to California's legal procedures.
