New Disciplinary Measures for Public Employees in Vietnam

New Disciplinary Measures for Public Employees in Vietnam

As of July 1, 2026, new disciplinary measures will be enforced for public employees in Vietnam, as outlined in Decree 234/2026/ND-CP. This decree specifies that public employees can be dismissed for four main infractions.

Key Violations Leading to Dismissal

According to the new regulations, public employees will face termination if they engage in any of the following behaviors:

  • Repeated violations after having previously faced disciplinary action, such as demotion for management positions or warnings for non-management roles.
  • First-time serious violations that result in significant consequences, where the employee fails to show willingness to correct the mistake or mitigate the damage.
  • Using fake or illegal diplomas, certificates, or documents to gain employment in any governmental or organizational unit.
  • Being addicted to drugs, which must be confirmed by a medical facility or an authorized agency.

This initiative aims to enhance the integrity and accountability of public service roles in Vietnam. The decree emphasizes the importance of ethical conduct and the consequences of dishonesty within the public sector.

Individuals seeking further information or legal advice regarding these changes can contact the legal advisory hotline or email the relevant authorities for assistance.
