700-Piece Band Prepares for Beatification Ceremony of Father Trương Bửu Diệp

A monumental event is set to take place in Cà Mau, Vietnam, as a 700-member band prepares for the beatification ceremony of Father Phanxicô Trương Bửu Diệp. This historic ceremony is significant as it will be the first beatification held in Vietnam, rather than at the Vatican, in nearly 500 years of Catholic presence in the country.

The band, known as the Hiệp nhất miền Đại Đồng, has been diligently rehearsing at the Tắc Sậy Church since July 1st. Under the direction of conductor Đinh Văn Độ, the musicians, comprising 550 primary performers and 150 reserves, have spent three months perfecting their performance, which will feature a variety of instruments including saxophones, trumpets, and bass horns.

On the day of the ceremony, the band is expected to perform approximately 15 pieces over a 90-minute period, including songs such as “Lên đền thánh” and “Tiếng nhạc oai hùng.” The atmosphere is already charged with excitement as many attendees, including pilgrims, gather to witness the band’s preparations.

In addition to the band, choir members from various parishes within the Cần Thơ Diocese are also rehearsing for the sacred music portion of the ceremony. The event is anticipated to attract over 70,000 attendees, marking a significant moment in the history of the Catholic Church in Vietnam.

As the community comes together for this momentous occasion, many participants express their pride and honor in contributing to the beatification of Father Trương Bửu Diệp, reflecting the deep cultural and spiritual significance of the event.
