Former Japan Airlines executive chosen to lead Bamboo Airways

HCMC – Oshima Hideki, former Executive Officer of Japan Airlines Co Ltd, has been picked as chairman of Bamboo Airways to lead the loss-making carrier through tough times.

At the privately-held airline’s annual general meeting of shareholders for 2023 yesterday, June 21, seven new board members of Bamboo Airways, including Oshima Hideki, were elected for the 2023-2028 term, reported the Vietnam News Agency.

With nearly 40 years’ experience in the aviation industry, Hideki also held senior positions at Tokyo Narita Airport and Haneda Airport.

Nguyen Ngoc Trong, Doan Huu Doan, and Phan Dinh Tue were chosen as deputy chairmen of the airline. The other members of the board of directors are Le Ba Nguyen, Le Thai Sam, and Tran Hoa Binh.

During the general meeting, Nguyen Thi Huu, Nguyen Bich Ngoc, and Nguyen Dang Khoa were elected to the supervisory board for the 2023-2028 term.

Last week, Bamboo Airways announced that all five board members, namely Nguyen Ngoc Trong, Doan Huu Doan, Le Ba Nguyen, Le Thai Sam, and Nguyen Manh Quan, resigned.
