Korean enterprises pour 1.5 billion USD into investing in Hai Phong, Vietnam

Head of Hai Phong Economic Zone Management Board Le Trung Kien this morning (June 13) from South Korea informed that at the headquarters of the Korea Trade Association (KITA) in Seoul, a delegation of Hai Phong led by Mr Le Tien Chau, Secretary of the City Party Committee - led the awarding of investment registration certificates for new projects and adjusted capital increase to Korean enterprises.
These projects have a total investment of up to 230 million USD.
These are Bumhan Vina Heavy Industries - Nam Dinh Vu Project, Haewon Vina Co., Ltd., Halla Electronics Vina Co., Ltd., and EST Vina HaiPhong Co., Ltd.
Hai Phong leaders also signed investment cooperation agreements of Korean businesses with the locality, with committed capital of up to 1.5 billion USD.

Korean enterprises signed an investment cooperation agreement with committed capital of up to 1.5 billion USD to Hai Phong.
According to the leader of Hai Phong City, Korea is a country with a comprehensive, practical and effective economic and trade cooperation relationship and is an important leading partner of the city.
With the strength of high-tech manufacturing industries, production of electrical - electronic products, chips - semiconductors, logistics, renewable energy, waste treatment,... Korea continues to be evaluated as the key market, the driving force to attract investment in Hai Phong in the coming time.
On June 12, Hai Phong City coordinated with the Korea Trade Association (KITA) to organize the Hai Phong - Korea Trade and Investment Promotion Conference in 2023. The event lasted 4 days, with the participation of more than 150 businesses and economic organizations in your country.
At the conference, large Korean enterprises that have made successful investments shared experiences to add confidence to new businesses that intend to enter Hai Phong.
Secretary of Hai Phong City Party Committee Le Tien Chau affirmed that he would continue to promote comprehensive cooperation for Korean investors to participate in such fields as building smart cities, e-government, energy, renewable energy, semiconductor components production, infrastructure and urban development, hospital and school construction, etc., forming an ecosystem of Korean businesses in Hai Phong.
Hai Phong is strongly committed to strongly improving the business investment environment, building regionally linked transport infrastructure, and focusing on speeding up the progress of developing new industrial zones to create a large land fund ready to welcome investors.
Korea invests 81.5 billion USD in Vietnam, of which Hai Phong accounts for nearly 10 billion USD (12% of the country), focusing mainly on clean industry sectors.

In 2022, the total export turnover to the Korean market through the Hai Phong port border gate will reach 12.3 billion USD, and the total import turnover through the Hai Phong port border gate from the Korean market will reach 7.8 billion USD.
Korea is the leading country in terms of the number of projects and the amount of investment capital out of 42 countries and territories registered for investment in Hai Phong.
