Airfares for upcoming holiday plunge

HCMC – Domestic airfares for the upcoming holiday have significantly dropped compared to last week’s levels, with many flights seeing a reduction of 25-30% in ticket prices.

Vietjet Air has announced to revise down airfares for the Hanoi-HCMC route, departing on April 29 and returning on May 3, with the lowest price at around VND3 million per trip, down 25% against April 14.

Meanwhile, Vietravel Airlines is offering the lowest fare of over VND3.5 million per trip, down nearly 30%.

Airfares for flights to domestic tourist destinations like Danang, Nha Trang and Phu Quoc have fallen deeply. However, most of the flights are already fully booked.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam previously decided to increase aircraft movements at the Tan Son Nhat International Airport to meet the rising travel demand during the April 30-May 1 holiday and summer vacation.

Tan Son Nhat will have an additional 26 slots per day from April 28 to May 3 and from June 1 to August 15. With more slots, Vietnamese carriers will be able to provide an additional 4,500-5,000 seats per day.
