A British pharmaceutical group invests nearly VND 7 trillion to make Vietnam its Asian headquarters

It is known that this is the second time in the past year that Mr. Pascal Soriot has visited Vietnam, and the first time to Ho Chi Minh City. 

At the meeting, Mr. Pascal Soriot said that AstraZeneca had become one of the first foreign-invested enterprises in the pharmaceutical industry in Vietnam. Currently, AstraZeneca is investing nearly 7,000 billion VND in Vietnam to work with Vietnam to reduce the burden of both non-communicable and infectious diseases, technology transfer and production, drug processing, and pharmaceutical research and development products, as well as building sustainable health systems, mitigating the impacts of climate change.

Appreciating the development and potential of Ho Chi Minh City, Mr. Pascal Soriot said that AstraZeneca Group and Ho Chi Minh City share a common development vision and great opportunities for cooperation and will be ready to support, share and cooperate with the city in areas of mutual interest such as biochemical research, vaccines to prevent and control potential diseases, development of biological products, etc.

The General Director of AstraZeneca Group pledged to provide many resources, and support to make a long-term contribution to the economy and health system of Ho Chi Minh City in particular and Vietnam in general.

Also at the meeting, Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Phan Van Mai said that with the strengths and development orientation of AstraZeneca, Chairman Phan Van Mai said that the two sides share the same development orientation and have plenty of potential to cooperate. In the coming time, the two sides need to early deploy and study specific cooperation programs, especially the areas where the city prioritizes AstraZeneca has strengths such as the development of a medical research center, vaccine development, e biological products, and medical instruments.
