Ben Luc-Long Thanh expy project cost reduced

HCMC – The Ben Luc-Long Thanh expressway project now costs VND30,073 billion, down by VND1,247 billion, as its investment plan has been revised.

The cost includes VND8,000 billion funded by the Asian Development Bank, VND10,600 billion provided by the Japan International Cooperation Agency and VND3,900 billion coming from the Government.

The balance comes from the Vietnam Expressway Corporation (VEC), the project’s investor, the Ministry of Transport said in a statement.

The ministry has proposed opening the road to traffic in September 2025, instead of the end of this year as earlier planned.

The Ben Luc-Long Thanh expressway, part of the HCMC Beltway No.3, will have six lanes, including two for emergency stops. The maximum speed is 120 kilometers per hour.

Work began on the 58-kilometer expressway in 2014 and it was initially expected to be opened to traffic five years later. But it has fallen far behind schedule as a result of financial problems.

The road is currently 82% complete.
